Assam Court Sends Jignesh Mevani to Judicial Custody

The court will deliver its order on Monday. In the hearing on Sunday, the police sought an increase in the remand accusing Mevani of non-cooperating with the investigation. Police said Mevani has not shared the password of his phone.

Independent Dalit MLA from Vadgam, Jignesh Mevani, was arrested by the Assam police from Palanpur in Banaskantha district on late Wednesday night following a complaint over two of his tweets against Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Following the completion of three-day police remand, Gujarat MLA Jignesh Mevani was produced at the court before the chief judicial magistrate of Kokrajhar on Sunday. The court reserved its order and sent Mevani to one day's judicial custody
