Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma
Guwahati: Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma met union home minister Amit Shah in New Delhi and briefed him on the flood situation and other matters concerning the state.

Sarma said during the meeting on Sunday, he apprised the union home minister of the scale of damage due to the floods and the steps being taken by the state government for relief, rehabilitation and restoration.

Shah assured the Assam government of the Centre’s support for rehabilitation and restoration efforts, the CM said in a post Monday on social media platform X.


He said Shah remained in constant touch with the state government throughout the flood situation.

At least 105 people lost their lives in this year’s floods, which affected around 1.2 million people in the state.
