Talking to reporters in Dibrugarh, Sarma said, "The rising cases of Covid-19 is a matter of concern but their is no chance of lockdown in Assam. We will sit at Guwahati tomorrow to analyse the Covid-19 data of last one week of the state and take decision regarding our next step,".
Around 50 Covid-19 positive cases have reportedly been detected at the IIT-Guwahati.
Health minister Keshab Mahanta said, "Till date, two Omicron variant case has been reported from Assam. One case has been detected in Shillong. From January 1, the Covid-19 cases has been rising in the state. Over 150 cases of Covid-19 was detected in the state in January 1,".
"We have already directed the district administration and the hospitals for preparations. Over 3 crore vaccinations has been given till date. We have been directed all the hospitals, model. "
Sarma distributed cheques to women beneficiaries as part of Assam Micro-Finance Incentive and Relief Scheme 2021 at a function held at Dibrugarh.
It may be noted that to incentivise good credit discipline, the first phase of the scheme was launched at Sonitpur on November 28. Today 5097 beneficiaries from Dibrugarh district were given cheques out of the total 25,873 beneficiaries.
Speaking on the occasion, Sarma appealed to the beneficiaries to make good use of the financial benefits so that their entitlement to future loans increases manifold. He also urged upon the micro-finance establishments to generate awareness among the loanees to help them make good use of the loans.
He also said that those beneficiaries who are unable to pay back their loans should apply through a portal for remittance as State government would open a portal in the coming month.
He also said that taking loan is a process. The educated unemployed who do not get government jobs try to make them self-reliant by starting business with the help of bank loans.
Earlier, Chief Minister Sarma launched an online piped natural gas registration portal of Assam Gas Company Limited at Duliajan. It may be noted that with this portal people can apply for new gas connection and can lodge their complaint. He also took stock of the functioning of AGCL and its various ongoing projects with the senior officers of the company. Union Minister of State for Oil and Natural Gas Rameswar Teli and others were present during the meeting.
