Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced Guwahati Police have registered an FIR against several popular YouTubers and social media influencers for promoting obscenity and engaging in sexually explicit discussions on a show titled India’s Got Latent.

Sarma stated in x, "the Guwahati Police have registered an FIR against several popular YouTubers and social media influencers for promoting obscenity and engaging in sexually explicit discussions on a show titled India’s Got Latent. The accused include notable figures like Ashish Chanchlani, Jaspreet Singh, Apoorva Makhija, Ranveer Allahbadia, Samay Raina, among others.

The FIR was filed by the Guwahati Crime Branch under Cyber PS case no. 03/2025, citing multiple charges under Sections 79, 95, 294, and 296 of the BNS 2023. In addition, the case also includes violations of Section 67 of the Information Technology Act, 2000, as well as provisions under the Cinematograph Act, 1952, and the Indecent Representation of Women (Prohibition) Act, 1986.
