Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Tuesday announced that a total of 15 Bangladeshi nationals had been sent back to their country through Sribhumi district.

"Stern action against illegal infiltration. Maintaining a strict vigil along the Indo-Bangladesh border, @sribhumipolice intercepted two Bangladeshi nationals and pushed them back," Sarma wrote in a post on X.

He added that the two foreign nationals had been identified as Irfan Khan and Nurul Afsar.


In another post on X, Sarma stated, "Thirteen Bangladeshi nationals have been deported. The following individuals were sent back through Sutarkandi ICP: Abdul Hamid, Sabuj Hussain, Abul Hassan, Sanju, Md. Hussain, Hossain Sardar, Siam Ali, Nizam Uddin, Sopon Mia, Rifat Hossain Azad, Faruk Hossen, Md. Bappi Bepari, and Chandan Hussein Jewel. We remain committed to a firm stand against illegal infiltration."
