Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma announces additional Rs 5 crore grant for Assam Agitation Welfare Trust

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma chaired a meeting on Assam Agitation Welfare Trust and stated that an additional amount of Rs 5 crores would be provided to the trust.

Matters related to future tasks as well as measures required for strengthening of the trust were discussed in the meeting.

The Chief Minister stated that an additional amount of Rs 5 crores would be provided to the trust. The Assam Agitation Welfare Trust was formed with an initial corpus of Rs 5 crores. With the addition of another Rs 5 crores, as per the Chief Minister's directive, it would have a total of Rs 10 crores at its disposal. This amount would be utilised to provide various relief measures to family members of martyrs of Assam Agitation and those grievously injured in it.


In today's meeting, the Chief Minister also directed the Assam Accord Implementation Department to make an online database of those who were hit by bullets or were seriously injured during their participation in Assam Agitation.
