Assam CM confirms arrest of two PWD officials in engineer’s suicide case

Guwahati: Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Wednesday said that two persons have been arrested by police regarding the suicide case of an engineer of the Public Works Department.

The junior engineer of the PWD department has committed suicide on Monday and police recovered a suicide note where she has alleged that she was subjected to mental harassment by two if her senior colleagues.

The victim had also alleged that the two senior colleagues had harassed and pressured her for clearing the pending bill of a contractor despite having discrepancies in the bill.


The chief minister said, "The police had arrested the two officers including a sub divisional officer. We are taking the case seriously. A team of engineers and senior officials had also visited the building, which was constructed by the contractor, whose bills were cleared while pressuring the victim."
