Assam cabinet decides to provide scooters to top performers in higher secondary examination

Assam cabinet has decided to provide scooters to 29,748 girls who secured 1st division and 6,052 boys who secured 75% and above in Higher Secondary Examination, 2022.

The move is aimed to encourage students and ensure better HS results. Total cost to be incurred will be around Rs 258.9 crore

The cabinet meeting on Wednesday decided guidelines on standard procedure for issuance of Hill Tribes in Plains and Plain Tribes in Hills certificates. Caste certificates to be provided to eligible persons by DCs online, similar to SC/ST/OBC/MOBC Certificates under Mission Bhumiputra, to help them avail economic, educational and employment benefits of State Government.

As per directives of Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, the Home Department of the government of Assam has raised the daily duty allowances to Rs 767 (from the existing rate of Rs 300 per day per head for basic trained home guards and Rs 315 per day per head for advanced trained home guards).

Increase in the daily duty allowances has been a long-standing demand of the home guards. As per notification no. HMB. 150/2015/299, issued by the Home & Political Department, the increased duty allowances rate will be applicable from Tuesday onwards. This decision will benefit as many as 24,000 home guards’ personnel with each jawan's monthly remuneration standing at around Rs 23,010.

The Chief Minister stated that today's decision would be step towards uplift of all sections of society. He further stated that the increase in monthly duty allowances would act as a motivation to the jawans to work with greater dedication and motivation.
