Assam Cabinet approves Green Cess on vehicle ownership transfers, 12% quota for ex-Agniveers

Guwahati: The Assam Cabinet has approved the levying of a Green Cess on the transfer of ownership of vehicles to support ongoing afforestation and conservation activities.

The Green Cess will not apply to EVs, CNG vehicles, two- and three-wheelers, and transfers of ownership owing to the death of the vehicle owner.

The Cabinet has approved a 12% reservation for Assam-domiciled ex-Agniveers in recruitment to posts of all categories in the Assam Police, APRO, SDRF, Fire & Emergency Services, Forest Guards and Excise.


The Cabinet has approved Rs 1 lakh per month under the Chief Minister's Scheme for Public Emergency to support the functioning of the revered Madhupur Satra.
