Cabinet meeting of Assam government
Assam cabinet on Sunday gave approval to Assam Right to Public Service (Amendment) Ordinance, 2023, and provide for the establishment of a commission.

The ordinance seeks to amend the Assam Right to Public Service Act, 2019 to constitute the Assam State Commission for Right to Public Services.

The commission to be an independent quasi-judicial 3-member body with a Chief Commissioner and 2 Commissioners. The commission can recommend disciplinary action against Designated Public Servants for persistently failing to provide notified services within stipulated time.


The cabinet has decided to rename Tea Tribes Welfare Department as Tea Tribes and Adivasi Welfare Department and Directorate of Tea Tribes Welfare to be renamed as Directorate of Tea Tribes and Adivasi Welfare to honour the sentiments of Adivasi and Tea Tribes.
