Assam boat capsize incident: CM Himanta Biswa Sarma visits bereaved families

The Chief Minister met the families of Sujan Malakar, Jit Karmakar, Prasenjit Saha, Gouranga Malakar and Uday Sarkar and expressed his deep sympathy to them and prayed for eternal peace of the departed souls.

Guwahati: Following the tragic boat capsize incident that took place on Thursday at Simlitola of Rongjuli area in Goalpara district, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma visited the bereaved family members of the five victims and paid his condolences.

The Chief Minister met the families of Sujan Malakar, Jit Karmakar, Prasenjit Saha, Gouranga Malakar and Uday Sarkar and expressed his deep sympathy to them and prayed for eternal peace of the departed souls.

While talking to the media, Sarma said that the state government has provided an ex-gratia payment of Rs 4 lakh to the next of kin of each victim. He also stated that the government would investigate additional ways to assist the grieving families.


Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Ashok Singhal were also present during the visit of the Chief Minister.
