Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma held a meeting with Arunachal Pradesh counterpart Pema Khandu on the border dispute and stated substantial progress is made in boundary issues.

Sarma tweeted, "Held a productive meeting with Hon’ble CM of Arunachal Pradesh Shri @PemaKhanduBJP. We have made substantial progress on our boundary issues. Both of our governments are committed to end outstanding legacy matters and deepen our shared value of regional harmony".

Regional committee to resolve the border dispute between Assam and Arunachal Pradesh have visited disputed areas.

It is a follow-up action of 'Namsai Declaration' signed on July 15, 2022, following a discussion between Chief Minister Assam, Himanta Biswa Sarma and his counterpart Chief Minister Arunachal Pradesh, Pema Khandu.

Both states have agreed in principle to restrict the number of disputed villages to 86 instead of 123.
