Police stated that the raids came after prolonged intelligence gathering by Assam Police HQ in coordination with NIA based on specific inputs received from various sources during the course of investigation of attempted sabotage activity. Incriminating facts have been untethered after preliminary interrogation of the apprehended persons and more information about the conspiracy are expected to be known after prolong interrogation, in due course of time.
On Saturday one person was apprehended in Tinsukia, Sadiya, Nagaon, Nalbari and Tamulpur three each in Dibrugarh, Lakhimpur, two in Jorhat, Guwahati.Among those arrested included three women.
Police said that they are being arrested for further interrogation and unearthing the larger conspiracy.
The anti-talk faction of United Liberation Front of Asom (ULFA) which is also known as ULFA (Independent) has remained elusive to the peace process.
On August 15 anti-talk ULFA militants planted several bomb-like objects however refrained from exploding. ULFA(Independent) is led by Paresh Baruah.
