Aspirants on warpath over Agnipath. Here are the trains hit by widespread protests

Protests over the scheme led to the cancellation of over 34 trains and the partial cancellation of eight more on Thursday. Due to the protests, 72 trains were also running late.

The swelling protests over Agnipath, the Centre's new 'Agnipath' scheme for recruitment of defence personnel, has brought train services to a halt.

Services have been disrupted due to continued agitation at different East Central Railway stations. These include,

12335 Malda Town - Lokmanya Tilak (T) Express and the 12273 Howrah - New Delhi Duronto Express have been cancelled: Ekalabya Chakraborty.


Protests over the scheme led to the cancellation of over 34 trains and the partial cancellation of eight more on Thursday. Due to the protests, 72 trains were also running late.

Five mail and express trains, as well as 29 passenger trains, were cancelled. In the East Central Railway zone alone, 22 trains were cancelled.

Protesters blocked the train track in Delhi's Nangloi and chanted slogans opposing the programme.

At around 9.45 a.m., the Delhi Police received information that 15-20 persons assembled at the Nangloi railway station to protest.

The demonstrators told police that they had put out applications for government examinations two to three years ago, but that the exams were never held, and that they were now over the age limit. Around mid-day, the police quelled the protests and dispersed the participants.
