Ashwini Vaishnaw on why building tech resilience critical for India amid changing times

Vaishnaw highlighted the need to build a complete semiconductor ecosystem, expand domestic manufacturing, improve applied research and strengthen critical technology capabilities. He cited India’s progress in mobile phone components and its indigenous 4G telecom stack, deployed on more than 100,000 towers. The minister also warned of future global turbulence from AI-driven employment disruption and debt pressures in advanced economies. Cisco CEO Chuck Robbins said India’s approach of developing strategic capabilities while partnering with trusted companies offered a practical path towards technology sovereignty.
