Bollywood’s evergreen music icon Asha Bhosle was admitted to Mumbai’s Breach Candy Hospital on Saturday, the hospital’s trust confirmed.

Providing an update, her granddaughter Zanai Bhosle said the 92-year-old singer was hospitalised due to extreme exhaustion and a chest infection. She said in a statement shared on Instagram that the playback singer is under treatment that is ongoing.

"My grandmother, Asha Bhosle, due to extreme exhaustion and suffering a chest infection, has been admitted to hospital... Treatment is ongoing, and hopefully everything will be well, and we shall update you positively," read the social media statement.

Earlier source-based reports had suggested cardiac and pulmonary complications, though no official medical bulletin detailing her condition has been released so far.

Further updates are awaited.

A recipient of the Padma Vibhushan, Bhosle is widely regarded as one of India’s most versatile and celebrated voices, with a career spanning over seven decades across multiple languages and genres.
