Eight Kuki Tribal Union militants surrendered in Assam's Haflong

They surrendered before the Commanding Officer, 11 Assam Rifles at its camp base at Sarkari Bagan at Haflong.

Around eight militants of the Kuki Tribal Union (KTU) surrendered at Haflong in Assam on Friday.

They surrendered before the Commanding Officer, 11 Assam Rifles at its camp base at Sarkari Bagan at Haflong. Assam Rifles had been convincing the cadres since months after their extortion/ demand activities was detected. It is stated that, all surrendered cadres broke away members of militant group Kuki Revolutionary Army (KRA) who joined the KTU.

Officials said “The group operates mainly in Kuki dominated area of Nagaland, Dima Hasao and Karbi Anglong in Assam and Manipur. The group recently started collecting taxes in Kuki’s area of Jiribam and Tamenglong.”
