Army conducts flag march in Kokrajhar for second day after mob killings

Army, CRPF and RAF remain deployed in Assam’s Kokrajhar district for a second day after a mob attack linked to suspected cattle theft left two people dead and four injured.

Guwahati: Army conducted a flag march for the second day on Wednesday in Kokrajhar following tension after two people were killed and four others injured in a mob attack on the suspicion of cattle theft on Monday. The administration has set up camps at Karigaon and Gwajanpuri Amanpara high schools with more than 1,240 people lodged in these camps.

CRPF and RAF have been deployed and joint patrolling is being carried out as the incident has fuelled tension in Kokrajhar and Chirang districts. Four Army columns are deployed in Kokrajhar while an additional company has reached the district. Internet was suspended in these two districts. Prohibitory orders were imposed on Tuesday.
