Supreme Court to hear plea challenging Delhi's special intensive revision of electoral rolls

New Delhi: The Supreme Court is set to take up a plea challenging the ongoing special intensive revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Delhi, with petitioners questioning, among other aspects, the use of 'logical discrepancies' as a ground for issuing notices to voters.

The petitioners have contended that 'logical discrepancies' have not been clearly defined, leaving electoral authorities with wide and potentially arbitrary discretion to flag voters for verification.

They have argued that the absence of objective and ascertainable criteria could cause eligible voters to be subjected to scrutiny without being adequately informed of the precise grounds for such action.
