The move came immediately after Uttar Pradesh’s chief minister Yogi Adityanath warned Ansal API of serious consequences if any instance of cheating was reported against the company during the budget session of the state assembly the same day the FIR was lodged.
Ansal API’s directors Pranav Ansal, Sushil Ansal, Sunil Gupta, Vinay Singh and Francette Patrica Atkinson have been accused of charges such as criminal conspiracy, cheating, forgery, criminal intimidation and organized crimes covered under sections 316 (5), 318 (4), 61 (2), 351 (2) , 338 and 111 of Bhartiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
The charges are punishable with prison terms including life imprisonment.
As per the FIR, Lucknow Development Authority has accused Ansal API’s directors of conspiring to usurp lands meant for public use such as earthen tracks, ceiling lands and village lands and selling them illegally. The quantum of such lands the use of which was restricted is about 411 acres.
The company’s directors have also been accused of failing to deposit dues of Rs. 400 crore with the land authorities.
Lucknow Development Authority stated that only Rs. 118 crore has been deposited by the company.
The FIR states that 2268 complaints have been lodged against Ansal API with Uttar Pradesh’s Real Estate regulator RERA.
Ansal API was granted development rights over 6465 acres at Lucknow’s Hi-Tech city township which it branded as Sushant Golf City.
Protests have followed in Lucknow post the company’s admission into insolvency proceedings last week as 7000 investors in the township fear losing their money.
