Another earthquake hits Assam, fourth this month

A 3.5 earthquake had hit Assam's Sonitpur and some other parts on May 5. On May 3, there was a 3.7 one in Tezpur, which had also been jolted on May 1 by a 3.3 quake.

A major earthquake of magnitude 6.4 had rocked the state on April 28, causing widespread damage to property.
A fresh earthquake hit Assam on Friday morning, merely days after a major tremblor had rocked the north eastern state.

National Centre for Seismology (NCS) said that a quake of magnitude 2.8 on the Richter scale hit the Morigaon region in the state.

There are no reports yet of any human casualties or loss of property. Further details are awaited.


This is the fourth in a series of quakes to have hit the state this month.
