“There is a possibility of a dust storm or thunderstorm on June 1 or June 2, bringing some relief. However, this will be a short-term relief," said Mahesh Palawat, Vice President, Meteorology And Climate Change at Skymet Weather.

Earlier this month, parts of the national capital witnessed a dust storm, strong winds, and rainfall on Friday, leading to the diversion of nine flights from the Delhi airport late in the evening, officials reported. The diverted flights were rerouted to Jaipur due to the adverse weather conditions.

The national capital recently reported record high temperature in several parts of the city reaching close to 50°C.
Mungeshpur and Narela weather stations recorded temperatures as high as 49.9°C, while Najafgarh reached 49.8°C.
Temperatures jumped several notches compared to the previous day. In Safdarjung, temperatures rose to 45.8°C, up from 45.1°C the day before.
Palam, Cho, Ridge, and Ayanagar stations recorded temperatures well beyond 45°C.
The capital is on red alert and has been under heatwave conditions for the last three days.

Symptoms like fever, headache, vomiting and unconsciousness are common. She also advised that people should avoid stepping out, especially during peak hours, and keep themselves hydrated.The weather officials also said that the capital will experience a heatwave for the next two days after which a new weather disturbance will hit North India, affecting the capital as well.
In Delhi, the monsoon typically arrives towards the end of June. Last year, the monsoon advanced over both Delhi and Mumbai on June 25, marking the first simultaneous arrival since June 21, 1961. According to the IMD, this was the first time since 1961 that the monsoon arrived in Delhi and Mumbai at the same time, despite hitting the national capital two days earlier than usual and reaching the financial capital two weeks late.
