Anmol Bishnoi Sent to 11 Days of NIA Custody in Baba Siddique Murder Case
A Delhi court on Wednesday sent Anmol Bishnoi, an accused in the murder of NCP leader Baba Siddique, to 11 days of NIA custody.

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) brought Anmol to Patiala House Court around 5 pm under tight security, shortly after arresting him following his deportation from the United States.

Court Sends Anmol to NIA Custody

Special Judge Prashant Sharma approved the NIA’s request for custodial interrogation, although the agency had originally sought 15 days. Anmol will now remain in NIA custody until 29 November, when he will be presented before the court again.

Speaking to the media, Special Public Prosecutor Rahul Tyagi said Anmol is a “very important member of the terror-gangster syndicate” and possesses “crucial information” needed for the investigation.

What the NIA Wants to Investigate

According to the prosecutor, the agency needs Anmol’s custody to investigate:
  • The modus operandi of the terror-gangster network
  • The source of funding
  • The involvement of other members
  • The operations of the syndicate

Security was significantly heightened around the court, with RAF personnel deployed. Media entry into the courtroom was restricted during the proceedings.

Why Anmol Bishnoi Was Wanted

Anmol, the brother of jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, is wanted in several high-profile cases, including:
  • The murder of NCP leader Baba Siddique
  • Firing at actor Salman Khan’s residence in April 2024
  • The killing of Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala
  • Other crimes linked to the terror-gangster network
He had been detained in the United States since November last year and was “removed” from the country on Tuesday before being handed over to Indian authorities.

NIA’s Earlier Findings

The NIA said Anmol was chargesheeted in March 2023, after investigations showed that he had actively helped designated terrorist Goldy Brar and his brother Lawrence Bishnoi in carrying out terror-related activities in India between 2020 and 2023.

Anmol, who had been absconding since 2022, is now the 19th accused to be arrested in the case involving the terror-gangster syndicate.
