Gangster Anmol Bishnoi, younger brother of jailed criminal Lawrence Bishnoi, was taken into custody by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) in Delhi on Wednesday after being extradited from the United States, officials told news agency PTI.

He is among the key accused in the killing of former Maharashtra minister and NCP leader Baba Siddique and is also linked to several high-profile violent crimes across India.

According to officials, as quoted by PTI, Bishnoi arrived in Delhi after being “removed” from the US, where he had been detained since November last year. He is expected to be produced before a special court in the capital shortly.

Anmol Bishnoi has been on the radar of multiple investigative agencies for his alleged involvement in high-profile attacks, including the firing outside actor Salman Khan’s Mumbai residence in April 2024 and the assassination of Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala.

Baba Siddique was gunned down in front of his son Zeeshan’s office in Mumbai’s Bandra area on October 12, 2024, in what investigators have described as a meticulously planned operation.

The killing prompted a sweeping crackdown, with at least 26 individuals allegedly linked to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang arrested so far. The Mumbai Police have invoked the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) against those named in the case.

Along with Anmol Bishnoi, Shubham Lonkar and Zishan Mohammed Akhtar are also listed as wanted accused in the Siddique murder investigation.
