New Delhi: The Andhra Pradesh government on Saturday set up a Group of Ministers (GoM) to suggest how to utilise the controversial Rushikonda luxury resort, built by the previous YSRCP government and allegedly planned as the camp office of former chief minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy.

The GoM includes Tourism Minister Kandula Durgesh, Finance Minister Payyavula Keshav and Social Welfare Minister Dola Sree Bala Veeranjaneya Swamy. The panel can co-opt representatives from other departments if needed and will submit its recommendations to the state government.

The YSRCP government had demolished an APTDC resort atop Rushikonda in 2021 to build a complex at a cost of ₹450 cr. Then Tourism Minister R.K. Roja had said the facility-dubbed "Rushikonda Palace" for its luxury features-would serve as Jagan's camp office as he sought to shift the state capital to Visakhapatnam.
