Andhra Pradesh schools are gearing up to reopen their doors for the 2024-25 academic year, with classes set to commence on Thursday, June 13. Originally slated to resume on June 12, the reopening date has been pushed back due to the swearing-in ceremony of Nara Chandrababu Naidu as the new Chief Minister of the state, scheduled for the same day. Consequently, the state education department has declared Wednesday a holiday for all schools, with classes now slated to resume on Thursday.

For students attending government schools from grades 1 to 10, the previous administration had a tradition of providing educational kits, comprising textbooks and uniforms, on the first day of school. Over the past four years, these kits, known as Jagannanna Vidya Kanuka, have been consistently distributed. However, there might be a delay in distributing the kits and textbooks this year. While the textbooks have already arrived at the mandal centers, the final decision regarding their distribution will be made by the new education minister once the new government assumes office.

The school education department has prepared 3.6 million educational kits for distribution. These kits include textbooks covering all subjects, a TOEFL workbook, a Future Skills subject book, three sets of uniform cloth, a school bag, a belt, and an Oxford dictionary. Additionally, students in grades 1 to 5 will receive workbooks and pictorial dictionaries, while those in grades 6 to 10 will be provided with notebooks. As in previous years, bilingual textbooks have been printed. Starting this academic year, 10th-grade textbooks will also be available in English, marking the transition to English medium instruction. Furthermore, new cover designs have been introduced for textbooks from grades 3 to 10.

Approximately one thousand government schools in the state have adopted the CBSE curriculum. For 10th-grade social studies, CBSE teaching methods have been implemented, with the NCERT syllabus covering geography, economics, history, and democratic politics. Notably, this year marks the first time that physical science textbooks will be printed on art paper. Additionally, the government has introduced a Future Skills course for 8th-grade students this year. However, it's important to note that some changes in educational policies might occur based on the decisions made by the newly formed government.
