Andhra CM Chandrababu Naidu distributes house site deeds to over 28,000 families

Visakhapatnam: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Saturday distributed house site title deeds here to over 28,000 families, granting the beneficiaries full ownership of land valued at nearly Rs 9,000 crore.

Through the distribution of title deeds to 28,445 families, 399 acres of land is being regularised, encompassing over 19.3 lakh sq yards of area and ending a four-decade-long wait for ownership rights.

Naidu personally handed over some title deeds to the beneficiaries.


"There is happiness in the families which took the house-site title deeds. We are giving them all the rights on their houses. My congratulations to all the people who received the title deeds," he said, addressing a public meeting.

"This is the first time that such a large-scale regularisation and distribution of house-site title deeds is being undertaken in Visakhapatnam," said an official press release earlier.

Thousands of families have been living in houses they had built for themselves in the port city without full legal rights over the land.

The absence of title deeds prevented them from fully enjoying, transferring or securing their properties for the future, said the press release, adding that the coalition government has brought an end to this long-pending problem.

On receiving ownership rights, the beneficiaries can enjoy financial and social security, bequeath properties to their children, gain self-respect and confidence about their future, it said.

The CM directed officials to regularise government land on which these houses had been constructed, wherever there were no objections, and grant ownership rights to the occupants.

The land regularisation process will benefit families across several areas from Gajuwaka in Vizag up to Bheemili.

Providing food, clothing and shelter is the motto of the TDP-led government, he said it is working towards ensuring a house for every poor person.

Through 'Mee Bhumi - Mee Hakku' (your land, your right) programme, Naidu said issues pertaining to the Revenue Department are being solved.

Though the previous YSRCP government had embossed Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy's image on land documents, Naidu stressed that the TDP-led government is issuing pattadar passbooks with the official seal.

According to the CM, title deeds were issued for 12,000 families after regularising lands.

"Welfare, development and good governance is our policy. We will come to the aid of every section and will develop every section," said the CM.

Referring to Vizag, Naidu said it is one of the fastest growing cities in the country, but it is facing some drinking water issues due to El Nino.

Noting that there were no rains due to El Nino, Naidu said its effects are manifesting at the state, national and global levels.

Highlighting a shortage of 50 percent rainfall this year, he said he had reviewed drinking water issues as soon as he had arrived in the port city.

Through the Polavaram project, the CM promised a permanent solution to drinking water issues in Vizag and said by interlinking rivers the government will make sure that there is no water scarcity in the state.

Naidu emphasised that Godavari river water had been brought to Anakapalli through Polavaram Left Main Canal and vowed to link Vamsadhara river through river interlinking.

Naidu alleged that the previous government had been involved in a liquor scam and also "adulterated" the Tirupati laddu, including allegedly indulging in several land disputes.

Further, Naidu said the government will soon decide what to do with the palatial mansion built atop Rushikonda hill in Vizag during the previous regime.

When data centres are being brought to Vizag, Naidu alleged that water shortage fears are being created, alluding to YSRCP.
