Amitabh Bachchan says 'fake news' over rumors about hospitalisation

On Friday morning, Indians were flooded with reports of Amitabh Bachchan's hospitalization. Social media platforms were abuzz with speculation regarding an angioplasty procedure. However, both the Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital and Bachchan's representatives refrained from confirming the admission or discharge of the 81-year-old icon.

Amid swirling rumors concerning his health, Amitabh was spotted enthusiastically supporting his team, Majhi Mumbai, during the final match of the Indian Street Premier League against the Tigers of Kolkata at the Dadoji Kondadev Stadium in Thane. Viral videos captured the spirited presence of the beloved actor as he cheered for his team with full vigor.

Accompanied by his son Abhishek Bachchan, Amitabh was attired in a white hoodie paired with black joggers and sports shoes. The father-son duo avidly watched the exhilarating final match, joined by cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar.


As Amitabh exited the stadium following the match, media personnel inquired about his well-being. Responding with a smile, the iconic actor dismissed the reports of his illness, stating firmly, "Fake news."

In a recent entry on his blog, the esteemed actor reflected on aging, noting a decline in criticism directed towards him.


Bachchan reflected on the changing attitudes towards him as he ages. Turning 81 in October this year, he shared, "Now with age the ridicule has lessened... now with time, they that are asked or are brought into the picture by me, are convinced that the man is 81, old, decrepit and mental, bear him… it shan’t be for long... and the responses go on with a sense of... poor guy, so uninformed, let him be etc. etc. etc..." He also noted a newfound fearlessness in expressing his opinions on matters.
