Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh recently met with Union Home Minister Amit Shah in New Delhi.
Guwahati: Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh called on Union Home Minister Amit Shah at his official residence in New Delhi. During the meeting, the Chief Minister apprised the Union Home minister of the measures taken up by the State Government for restoring peace and normalcy in the State.

Singh informed the union Home minister that the State Government has succeeded in resuming the Imphal-Dimapur-Guwahati bus service, which has brought much-needed relief to the common people.

He also urged the union Home minister to help the State to tide over the various issues being faced by the State and sought continued support from the Central Government. The Chief Minister reiterated his invitation to Amit Shah to visit the State. Accepting the invitation, the union home minister told Singh that he will visit the State in this month.


Shah gave a patient hearing to the Chief Minister and assured all support in bringing peace and progress and in fulfilling the aspirations of the people of Manipur. The Home Minister also appreciated the sustained efforts of the State Government to bring peace and normalcy in Manipur.

A senior official said that the Manipur government has sought 30 additional companies of the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) from the Union Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA.

Frequent incidents are taking place in the state. At least 306 people have been killed, and 49 remain missing in the ethnic violence that has gripped Manipur since May 2023, Home Minister Govindas Konthoujam told the state assembly on September 3, 2026.
