Union Home Minister Amit Shah will visit Jammu on Tuesday and launch the Vikas Bharat Sankalp Yatra, a central government initiative, flag off an electric bus service and inaugurate and lay the foundation stones of various developmental projects, said officials.

This will be Shah's first visit to Jammu and Kashmir after an ambush attack on the army in Poonch district of Jammu division, on December 21, in which four army personnel were killed and two others injured.

In the aftermath of the attack, Union defence minister Rajnath Singh and army chief General Manoj Pande visited Jammu and met the family members of victims in Poonch.

Shah chaired a security review meeting regarding the incidents in J&K on January 2 in Delhi, in which J&K lieutenant governor Manoj Sinha and senior officials of the army and administration in J&K and Delhi participated.

Officials said Shah's upcoming visit to Jammu is a follow-up of the January 2 meeting, in which some directions were issued, including strengthening of the anti-militancy grid among others.
