New Delhi: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Saturday chaired a review meeting in Jammu to assess the progress of development projects in Jammu and Kashmir, stressing the need for aggressive marketing of the Union Territory's tourist destinations across the country to tap its tourism potential.

On the concluding day of his visit to J&K, Shah undertook a comprehensive review of key sectors including road infrastructure, power, industry, tourism, and 4G and optical fibre connectivity. The meeting was attended by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, Lieutenant Governor M+oj Sinha, the Union Home Secretary and senior officials from the UT and the Centre.

Shah also met BJP office-bearers, MLAs and MPs in Jammu, stating that the party would continue working to ensure last-mile delivery of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's development initiatives while expanding the organisation to realise the vision of a "Developed J&K, Secure J&K".

"Enthusiasm of tourists from across the country to visit J&K has not diminished... there is a need for aggressive marketing of J&K's tourist destinations in other states to explore the tourism potential available here. The Government of India will provide all possible assistance in the plan to develop new tourist destinations in J&K," Shah said at the review meeting.
