Amit Shah opens National Cyber Forensic Lab in Hyderabad

Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Saturday inaugurated the 'National Cyber Forensic Laboratory' (NCFL) at Central Forensic Science Laboratory (CFSL) campus in Hyderabad. The NCFL will speed up the process for disposal of cybercrime cases in the country. "Cybercrime is one of the biggest challenges to the 21st century world. The Modi government is setting up a modern cyberlab ecosystem across the nation. This will help in increasing the conviction rate of cyber crimes," Shah tweeted later.

The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) had in December 2021 cleared the setting up of the NCFL for evidentiary purposes in the CFSL, Hyderabad. The lab has been set up under the Cyber and Information Security Division MHA at an estimated cost of about 35.51 crore rupees. NCFL has created 4 specialized Hi-tech units with state-of-the-art facilities to address issues in the field of digital forensics, which include a Mobile phone embedded system examination unit, a Digital storage Media Examination Unit, an Advanced Digital Forensic Unit, and Crime Scene Unit.
