Sources said Shah directed the central forces to identify and plug the rampant misuse of fake election identity and Aadhaar cards.
The issue of demographic changes along the India-Nepal and India-Bangladesh borders in Bihar were also discussed, they added. The home minister is learnt to have directed security forces to tighten vigil along the borders to stop illegal smuggling.
Shah also visited the Fatehpur border outpost on the Indo-Nepal border and conducted a review of various activities of the border area with the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB). The home minister returned to New Delhi on Saturday after completing his two-day trip, his first to the state after chief minister and JD(U) leader Nitish Kumar broke away from the NDA and joined the opposition alliance.
BJP leaders and workers had been keenly awaiting the visit to get a direction from Shah, the chief strategist of the party, after the entire opposition united against the party in the state.
Shah trained his guns on Kumar, indicating that the BJP would launch fresh salvos to corner the chief minister in the coming days.
Apart from the official meeting, Shah met BJP workers and mandal presidents on Saturday.
