As per a TOI report, the passenger, identified as Suranjit Das Choudhury, aged 45, continued his phone conversation even as the aircraft was preparing for take-off. This behavior directly contravened established safety protocols, leaving the airline with no choice but to take action.
Ten other passengers were also deboarded from the flight, as they insisted on flying with the passenger in question, despite his violation of safety rules. This incident was reported reported to the Airports Authority of India (AAI).
Airport sources told TOI that the plane had to be brought back to the bay from the runway due to this situation. All the deboarded passengers were subsequently handed over to local law enforcement. Interestingly, neither the airline nor the airport authority filed an official complaint against these passengers, and the police eventually allowed them to return home.
An airport official told TOI, "There were repeated requests by air-hostesses but the flier, Choudhury, continued to talk on his phone. In the meantime, the aircraft started moving on the runway. Ultimately, the matter was brought to the notice of the pilot, who also requested him to cut the call. But he continued to show arrogance, and finally, the pilot decided to halt the aircraft and bring it back to the bay."
The airport official added that Choudhury not only continued to argue but also misbehaved with the crew. In response, other passengers also joined in, creating a disturbance on the plane. The actions of these passengers necessitated their removal from the flight to ensure the safety and security of all passengers and crew members.
