The Faculty of Commerce at Allahabad University (AU) has introduced a unique educational offering for the new academic session – a five-year integrated BBA-MBA course. What sets this course apart is its incorporation of age-old wisdom from the likes of Lord Krishna's teachings in the Bhagavad Gita, the Ramayana, and the Upanishads, as well as the wisdom of the legendary Chanakya, a TOI report stated.

In a first for this educational institution, students will delve into the smart managerial strategies employed by industry stalwarts such as JRD Tata, Azim Premji, Dhirubhai Ambani, Narayan Murthy, Sunil Mittal, and Birla.

Additionally, the students will be guided in the practice of Ashtanga Yoga, a discipline aimed at helping them maintain composure during challenging situations. This innovative course has already commenced with an initial enrollment of 26 students. Over the course of ten semesters, these students will earn a total of 220 credits. Furthermore, the curriculum includes provisions for multiple entry and exit points.

This means that if a student decides to discontinue their studies after the first year, they will receive a one-year certificate. In the second year, they will be awarded a diploma, a BBA degree in the third year, and an MBA degree upon completion of the fifth year.

Shefali Nandan, the course coordinator, shared that the curriculum will emphasize the traditional study of Indian management thought and practices, infused with elements of spirituality, cultural values, human ethics, and management principles. The program will also introduce students to Ashtanga Yoga, offering a holistic perspective on life and meditation techniques to manage stress.

Shefali added that the course will be forward-looking by including essential subjects like artificial intelligence and startup management. This initiative marks a significant stride in blending ancient wisdom with contemporary education to equip students with a holistic understanding of management in the modern world.
