Ajit Pawar plane crash: Bengaluru Police register Zero FIR on nephew’s complaint
Bengaluru: The Bengaluru City Police have registered a Zero FIR alleging a conspiracy behind the death of former Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar in a plane crash earlier this year.

The High Grounds Police registered the FIR on Monday following a complaint by NCP MLA Rohit Pawar, nephew of Ajit Pawar. According to the FIR, the complainant had approached multiple police stations in Maharashtra earlier, but they declined to register a case, prompting the filing of a Zero FIR in Bengaluru.

Police said the FIR has since been transferred to the jurisdictional Baramati Rural Police for further investigation.

Ajit Pawar and four others were killed on January 28 when a Bombardier Learjet 45 aircraft carrying them crashed near Baramati Airport.

“The complainant had previously approached Marine Drive Police Station (Feb 25) and Baramati Police Station (Feb 26) without an FIR being registered, and was subsequently informed by Pune CID that they were examining only the Accidental Death Report angle,” the FIR noted.

The complaint seeks a criminal investigation independent of the limited technical inquiry conducted by the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB), it added.
