Speaking to the press outside the Legislative Assembly during the ongoing Budget Session, Ajmal who is an MLA said the drug menace could not be tackled through legislation alone.
The AIUDF president backed the government's efforts to establish rehabilitation centres for drug addicts but insisted that authorities must simultaneously adopt an uncompromising approach against those involved in drug trafficking.
"Unless strict action is taken, this menace will never end,". Ajmal urged the government to issue "shoot-at-sight" orders against drug traffickers, arguing that those engaged in the narcotics trade were responsible for destroying countless lives and families. Those who support drug dealers should not be allowed to continue practising”.
