An Air India flight traveling from Chicago to Delhi had to turn back after being airborne for more than ten hours due to technical issues, according to sources from PTI. The aircraft, a Boeing 777-337 ER, landed back at Chicago's O'Hare International Airport (ORD) on Thursday.

Toilet malfunction caused diversion

Sources revealed that the flight was forced to return as multiple toilets on board were non-functional. The Boeing 777-300 ER aircraft, which can accommodate over 340 passengers across first, business, and economy classes, is equipped with 10 toilets. However, only one remained operational during the flight, according to PTI sources.

Passengers provided with alternative arrangements

"Upon landing at Chicago, all passengers and crew disembarked normally and have been provided with accommodation to minimise inconvenience. Alternative arrangements are being made to fly the passengers to their destination," an Air India spokesperson said in a statement.

Refund and rescheduling options offered

The airline confirmed that passengers were given full refunds for cancellations and had the option to reschedule their flights at no additional cost.
