Artificial Intelligence (AI) and social media platforms will be used to enhance management and safety during the Mahakumbh 2025. For the first time, the grand event will be digitized on a large scale. The installation of AI-powered cameras throughout the Kumbh site will be helpful to monitor the massive crowd, besides ensuring round-the-clock surveillance.

These cameras may enhance security arrangements. It may also assist in reuniting the individuals if they get separated during the event. Besides, the social media platforms like Facebook and X will be used to provide immediate assistance in locating lost relatives.

The Mela administration has worked out an extensive plan to reunite individuals if they get separated. A digital ‘Khoya Paaya Kendra’ will go live from December 1, utilizing advanced technology to reunite separated individuals quickly and efficiently.


328 AI-enabled cameras, which have already been tested at four key locations, will be put into service to monitor the crowd round-the-clock, besides assisting in locating lost individuals. According to a press release, issued by the UP government, the task of the installation of these cameras at different locations on the Mela premises is almost completed.

The details of all the missing persons will be immediately registered at the digital “Khoya Paaya Kendra”. After the registration, the AI-powered cameras will start searching for the individual. Besides, information about the missing persons will be shared on social media platforms like Facebook and X (formerly Twitter).

The Mela administration has also planned to use face recognition technology to trace the individuals who get separated from their loved ones. This advanced system will work instantly, capturing photographs and identifying individuals among the estimated 45 crore attendees.

The Mela administration has also worked out a plan to ensure proper care for anyone separated from his or her family at the event. Strict measures will be in place to ensure that no adult can take custody of a child or woman without verifying their identity and relationship.
