The Mortal remains of Captain Sumeet Sabharwal, who piloted the ill-fated Air India plane in Ahmedabad that crashed soon after takeoff, brought to his residence at Powai in Mumbai on Tuesday
Following Air India's plane crash in Ahmedabad last week, Air India on Tuesday bid its final salute to 56-year-old veteran pilot Captain Sumeet Sabharwal. Company's Head of Flight Operations, along with Tata Group's HR Head and Communications Head joined Captain Sabharwal's family to offer condolences.

"With profound grief and heavy hearts, we bid farewell to Captain Sabharwal - an exceptional aviator, a dedicated professional, and a beloved member of the Air India family," the airline said.

The last rites of Captain Sabharwal were performed in Mumbai on Tuesday hours after Sabharwal's mortal remains were brought to Mumbai from Ahmedabad.


Air India bid the final farewell to Captain Sabharwal saying:


Businessman Niranjan Hiranandani and local MLA Dilip Lande also visited Sabharwal's residence to pay respects to him.

With an experience of more than 8,200 flying hours, Captain Sabharwal was was commanding the ill-fated Air India flight AI-171 carrying 242 passangers and crew members that crashed in Ahmedabad on June 12.
