Ahead of Supertech twin towers demolition, 500 police personnel deployed, diversions set up

​Early in the day today, diversions were put in place to help drivers steer clear of the area around the towers, while nearby houses have been evacuated. Housing societies Emerald Court and ATS Village in Sector 93A were completely emptied by 8 am.

Ahead of the demolition of Supertech's illegal twin towers in Noida, authorities have deployed close to 500 police and traffic personnel in vicinity.

Early in the day today, diversions were put in place to help drivers steer clear of the area around the towers, while nearby houses have been evacuated. Housing societies Emerald Court and ATS Village in Sector 93A were completely emptied by 8 am.

The demolition has been set for Sunday afternoon at 2:30 pm, with 3,700 kg of explosives placed in the structure with an exclusion zone of 500 sq metres around the entire area occupied by the twin towers.


DCP Rajesh S, who is also the police's incident commander for overseeing the evacuation exercise, said, "Around 400 civil police personnel were on demolition duty Sunday."

DCP (Traffic) Ganesh Saha his department was keeping commuters informed about the changes and Google Maps was showing real-time updates on diversions.

"In case of any doubt, people can call up Noida traffic helpline number 99710 09001 for updates," Saha added.
