Agnipath protests: Situation peaceful even as train services remain affected across country

Amid the crackdown by police, the situation remained largely peaceful across the state on Sunday. Until Saturday, 340 people had been arrested or detained for the protests in UP under 29 cases filed across the state.

Leaders of various political parties posing as Army aspirants and promoters of institutes coaching students for Army entrance were among those arrested for allegedly instigating violent protests in Aligarh and Saharanpur.

Amid the crackdown by police, the situation remained largely peaceful across the state on Sunday. Until Saturday, 340 people had been arrested or detained for the protests in UP under 29 cases filed across the state.

Prashant Kumar, ADG (Law and Order), UP, said recovery of damage will be carried out for destruction of police property under the UP Recovery of Damage to Public and Private Property Act of 2020.


Meanwhile, as many as 483 train services were cancelled on Sunday due to protests in different parts of the country.

In Rajasthan, prohibitory orders under section 144 of the CrPC have been imposed in the Jaipur police commissionerate area on Sunday.
