In a tragic news, a tigress with a snare struck across its stomach at Jim Corbett Tiger Reserve, has reportedly consumed its third cub too. The tigress had given birth to three cubs despite having a snare stuck to its abdomen in the ntional park. She had given birth to the cubs on July 17 and 18, but within a few days, two of them were found lifeless, and the third cub could not be traced either.

As per a ToI report, the tigress had devouring two of its cubs a few days ago.

To ensure the safety of the tigress, the authorities decided not to disturb them. But when they went to retrieve the carcasses of the cubs the next day, they didn’t find them there.


The incident of cannibalism is not uncommon among tigers, but the exact reasons behind it remain uncertain. Experts suspect that stress and the presence of the snare could have played a role in the tigress' behavior. A multi-institutional team has been assembled to assess the condition of the tigress, which has displayed remarkable survival instincts despite the challenges posed by poachers' snares.
