As per Union Health Ministry data updated on Wednesday, India recorded 811 new infections, bringing the total number of COVID-19 cases to 4,46,62,952, with 13,559 active cases. The death toll has risen to 5,30,511 with two casualties reported from Maharashtra, according to data updated at 8 a.m.

Based on the ministry website, active cases account for 0.03 percent of total infections, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate has increased to 98.78 percent. In the last 24 hours, the active COVID-19 cases has decreased by 462.

The amount of individuals who have recovered from the disease has risen to 4,41,18,882, with a case fatality rate of 1.19 percent. As stated on the ministry's official site, the country has received 219.75 crore doses of Covid vaccine as part of the nationwide COVID-19 vaccination drive.


On August 7, 2020, India's COVID-19 tally surpassed 20 lakh, 30 lakh on August 23, 40 lakh on September 5, and 50 lakh on September 16. It surpassed 60 lakh on September 28, 70 lakh on October 11, 80 lakh on October 29, 90 lakh on November 20, and one crore on December 19.

Last year, the country passed the two crore mark on May 4 and the three crore mark on June 23. On January 25, this year, it surpassed the four-billion-dollar mark.
