Trinamool national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee was quizzed by the Criminal Investigation Department's (CID) for over five hours from 6 pm on Thursday to 12 am in connection with the alleged mismatch of MLAs' signatures in the selection of the Leader of the Opposition (LoP).

Meanwhile, a team of CID officers served a summons on Abhishek on Friday after waiting for three hours at his Kalighat residence. The notice was in connection with a case where he was allegedly accused of inciting violence and threatening Union home minister Amit Shah at a public rally during recent assembly polls. He was not present at his house and was reportedly at the residence of Mamata Banerjee.

The CID officials had to wait outside the locked gate of Abhishek's residence before his staff got it signed by him.
