Delhi Waqf Board case: AAP MLA Amantullah Khan detained by ED over financial irregularities
In what may be mounting troubles for the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), MLA Amanatullah Khan has been arrested by the Enforcement Directorate in the Waqf job 'scam'.

Earlier on Monday morning at 6.29 AM, the AAP MLA posted on X that the federal agency has reached his residence to arrest him.

The ED had filed a complaint against Khan for not appearing before the agency and refusing to participate in the investigation into alleged irregularities in appointments at the Delhi Waqf Board.

According to the complaints, the AAP leader allegedly received a large amount of cash through illegal staff recruitment at the Delhi Waqf Board and used the money to purchase properties in the names of his associates.

"Early this morning, at the behest of the dictator, his puppet ED reached my house. The dictator is leaving no stone unturned to harass me and other AAP leaders," said Khan, who represents Okhla in the Delhi Assembly in a video on X.

Manish Sisodia, Sanjay Singh and several other leaders hit out at the BJP government at the Centre, saying agencies are targeting those who raised their voice against the ruling party.

Delhi Minister Saurabh Bharadwaj, too, accused the Central government of "misusing" the probe agency.

Bhardwaj claimed that the BJP government is trying to increase the pressure on AAP ahead of the Assembly election in Delhi.

"The whole country is seeing how the agencies are being misused and as the elections come closer, these people will increase this kind of pressure even more," Bhardwaj said.

"This is a case of 2016... For 8 years, all the agencies have investigated this case at different levels. Nothing has been found till now. It is a matter of great shame for the central government that despite their investigation by ACB and CBI, it could not be seen that money transaction has taken place," Bharadwaj said.
