Kuki groups claimed that women were protesting the alleged arbitrary arrest and detention of Chassad village volunteers when a woman sustained bullet injuries from security forces and died around 9.40 pm on Friday.
The deceased is identified as Domkhonei Thouthang. On Thursday a head constable of the Rapid Action Force (RAF) sustained injuries in a grenade attack at New Lambulane in Manipur’s Imphal East district .
According to sources, unidentified miscreants hurled a grenade at the gate of B/107 RAF at around 10 pm on Thursday. The incident took place under the jurisdiction of Porompat police station.

The injured personnel have been identified as Dhananjay Rai, a head constable.
In Kuki, Naga and Meitei inhabited areas, there are voluntary village volunteers who profess to protect their community while guarding their respective areas. The nomenclature, however, differs.
