Bengaluru's popular eatery, 'The Rameshwaram Cafe,' is all set to reopen its doors to customers on Friday, March 8, after a low-intensity blast last week. The cafe, located in Brookfield (East Bengaluru), was the site of the blast on March 1, which left at least 10 people injured. The reopening function will be attended by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, Deputy CM DK Shivakumar, and Home Minister Dr G Parameshwara.

Investigation Updates

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has taken over the probe into the blast case and announced a cash reward of ₹10 lakh for information about the suspected bomber. Fresh CCTV footage from the site shows the suspect boarding a BMTC bus. The suspect, seen wearing a cap, a face mask, and glasses, was also wearing black shoes and pants and a greyish-green button-up shirt.

Earlier footage from the site showed customers standing at the billing counter moments before the explosion. The police have procured about 40 to 50 CCTV footage in connection with the incident. Karnataka Director General of Police Alok Mohan stated, "At 1 PM, a bomb blast occurred at the hotel (cafe)...We are investigating the matter. FSL (forensic) teams have come and are inspecting the premises. City police Commissioner and other officers are at the spot. We will certainly identify who did it."

Suspected IED Blast

The explosion is suspected to have been carried out through an Improvised Explosive Device (IED). The Karnataka Police has registered a case under the stringent Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act and Explosives Substances Act in connection with the case.

The reopening of 'The Rameshwaram Cafe' marks a step forward in returning to normalcy for the eatery and its patrons, albeit under the shadow of the recent unfortunate event.
