Delhi: Temporary structure collapses near Jawaharlal Nehru stadium; at least 8 injured
A temporary structure near Gate number 2 of the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Delhi collapsed on Saturday, leaving nearly 11 people trapped in the debris, according to Delhi Police.

Rescue operations were carried out successfully on the spot by emergency services, such as the Delhi Police and fire department.

As per the police, the unfortunate incident occurred at 11 am.


An official from Delhi Fire Services told PTI that they received a call regarding the stadium's pandal, or temporary structure, collapsing. At first, two persons were pulled out from under the rubble. Nine more people were brought out after that.

Most of the injured are employees, according to a police officer.

"The pandal was being erected for a wedding function near Gate No 2. The injured have been taken to AIIMS trauma centre for treatment," the officer said, and added no casualties have been reported so far.
