Mumbai reported 975 new coronavirus cases on Wednesday, the biggest daily total since July 1 and an increase of 643 from the number the previous day, according to the city civic body.

Mumbai reported 975 new coronavirus cases on Wednesday, the biggest daily total since July 1 and an increase of 643 from the number the previous day, according to the city civic body. Two more patients also died recently from the infection in the metropolis.

With these additions, the total number of COVID-19 victims rose to 11,34,479, while the death toll rose to 19,668, according to a statement from the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC).
As of today, there are 643 more daily coronavirus infections than there were on Tuesday when the city had 332 cases but no fatalities.


The city has recorded the most cases in a single day since July 1, when 978 new COVID-19 patients were discovered.
The report states that 8,173 tests were performed in the previous 24 hours, resulting in the discovery of the additional COVID-19 cases, bringing the total number of cases to 1,79,69,117.

3,499 COVID-19 tests were carried out on Tuesday in the financial capital.

The advisory stated that the city has a coronavirus recovery rate of 97.8% and that there are now 5,194 active COVID-19 cases.
Only 59 individuals out of the 975 new COVID-19 cases had symptoms.
